Bad news seems to be everywhere these days. Political unrest. Natural disasters. War in Ukraine. But there’s so much good news, too!
Here are 5 of the best things that have happened at Stella’s Voice lately:
We’re expanding our reach!
In addition to providing homes to teenage girls and boys — as we’ve been doing for many years — we are now helping younger kids. House parents Max and Lauren have done amazing work leading our team for the last three years, caring for young children through the social service department. Now, they’re stepping fully into the role of coordinating our efforts to
help younger children —who are
also at risk of human trafficking.
We’re excited to welcome our new team leaders in Moldova, Petru and Stela Calaras. Petru joked that listening to “Stela’s voice” is not a new experience for him. They each come with 20 years of ministry experience helping children and families in Moldova, and they are such a blessing, with vision, energy and passion that is already having a profound impact.
Eight new kids now live with us, with more to come soon. With Petru and Stela already working with churches, other charities and local authorities and learning about more kids who need help, that number is certainly going to grow. After COVID when so much was shut down, we thank God that we’re at last able to open our doors fully once again.
Kids are back at school and doing well, with tuition paid (thanks to our generous supporters), classes set, transportation arranged, and a busy season of learning well underway. Some are in trade schools, learning skills that will provide them with career options and access to good jobs so that they won’t face a future of vulnerability or poverty.
Lives are being changed in Ukraine. On a recent trip to Ukraine, we put together 100 bags filled with everything a family of four would need for around two weeks. Our friends then distributed them to families in dire need, showing them the love of God in the process. They would also hear about the God who loves them and cares about them enough to send them help, even when, for many, things are about as bad as they have ever been.
And those are just a few of the wonderful things that have happened lately! Stay tuned for more good news, and consider making a donation to help fund our crucial work.
